Trekking in Helambu is low altitude trek and offers a wonderous trip to the rugged but one of the most beautiful terrains in the world. It is noted for its scenic grandeur and pleasant climate. In Helambu, one can stay in highland monastery, villages and small settlements in the prestine forests. It offers a low altitude, distinctly enjoyable walk. In Sherpa and Tamang village meet friendly and hospitable people with strong family and cultural ties. Helambu Trek takes you through Thadepani to Tarke Gyang, where a choice of trails opens up.

Helambu Trekking Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival at Kathmandu.
Upon your arrival at Kathmandu, you will be welcomed heartily by company representative at the airport and transfer to hotel with a short briefing session reflecting ancient local tradition, shrines and temples found over here. Overnight in Kathmandu. (1000m)

Day 2: Kathmandu sightseening Tour.
Visit World Heritage site in Kathmandu including Kathmandu Durbar Square , Patan Durbar Square , Pasupatinath Temple, Bouddhanath, Swoyambhunath ( also called Monkey Temple)as a half day trip . Overnight stay in Kathmandu (1000m/280ft)

Day 3: Drive from Sundarijal and trek to Chisapani (2300m).
It takes 4/5 hours walk. In Sundarijal, you start hiking through Mulkharka village passing through many forests and trek up to East Ridge to Shivapuri forest. From here, you can view many mountains, different landscape and trek down to Chisapani.

Day 4: Trek from Chisapani to Kutumsang (2446m).
It takes about 7 hours. The trail continues to drop from Chisapani on the good. You will then descend through Panthi Bhanjyang till Gul Bhanjyang. The trail climbs the ridge from Gul Bhanjyang to next pass at 2620m. The meadow makes a good camping spot; it's down hill to Kutumsang at 2470m, in a saddle a top the ridge.

Day 5: Trek from Kutumsang to Tharipati (3650m).
It takes about 5 hours. The trek continues north up the Yurin Danda ridge and affords views of the peaks. The trail climbs abore Kutumsang on a steep, eroded trail mostly through fir and rhododendron forest where there is no permanent settlement. Your trail today leads to Tharipati.

Day 6: Trek from Tharipati to Melamchi Guan (2640m).
It takes about 4 hours. The trail gradually ascends through the enchanting forests enriched with beautiful rhododendron, oak and other trees. Tharipani, indeed a great view point to the glimpse of breathtaking snow capped mountain like Dorje, Lakpa, Gauri Shankar, Langshisa , Jugal and Many others . Now, the trail gradually ascends through the pine and rhododendron forest with great views down into the Helambu valley. Melamchi Gaun is very beautiful place surrounded by distinctive Sherpa people.

Day 7: Trek from Melamchi Gaun to Tarkeghyang (2743m).
It takes about 6 hours. The early part of trek descends until Melamchi and your trek gently upto Tarkeghyang passing through Sherpa settlements. Tarkeghyang is a beautiful Sherpa village also called Helambu named after Helmu caste.

Day 8: Trek from Tarkeghyang to Shermathang (2621m).
It takes approximately 4 hours which is quiet easy through the flat land with beautiful forest on the way. On the way, you find a beautiful village on the half way to Shermathang, which adds joy, pretty beautiful and artistically beautiful ancient monasteries. From here you can see Jugal Himal nearest from Kathmandu valley at the north face of Shermathang village.

Day 9: Trek from Shermathang to Melamchi Pul bazzar (840m).
It takes about 5 hours. ThDay 1: Drive from Sundarijal and trek to Chisapani (2300m).

It takes about 5 hours. The trail gradually descends all the way to Melamchi Pul Bazzar through terraced meadows and cultivated fields. Acrossing the village you find several villages with their own particular tradition. Your trail today remains full of pleasant with the pleasant mountain views and interaction with locals.

Day 8: You drive back to Kathmandu.
