Upper Mustang Trekking (Mustang Region Trekking)

Mustang (Upper Mustang Trekking)
is a remote, semi independent Tibetan kingdom within the territory of Nepal (just north of the Annapurna region on the Tibetan border) and one of the last bastions of undisturbed Tibetan culture in the world. Buddhist monasteries are built into forbidding cliffs and mountain ledges and starkly beautiful, windy, arid Tibetan plateau is unbroken for many hours of trekking and riding on horseback. The trek enters upper Mustang (trekking in upper mustang) at Kagbeni, a quaint medieval town nested in apple orchard and encircled by Snow Mountains.

It eventually reaches to Lo Manthang, ancient capital of Mustang which welcomes you with white washed mud bricks and teaming with Buddhist prayer wheels and stupas, seeming to arise from the earth itself. Camping is required and most necessities must be carried in since rare hotels and restaurants are here. This trek is typically ten days but can be longer than this. The high winds altitude and cold add to the challenge of this trek. It is not recommended to do in the winter season. Upper Mustang trek starts from Pokhara, a beautiful lake town of the western Nepal and crossing the Annapurna conservation area will get to upper Mustang. We start our upper Mustang trek through Holy river bank of Kaligandaki and follow the upstream to get to Lo Manthang which is capital of upper Mustang. In this trek you explore the thousand year’s monastery, caves, local tribes and scenic beauties of different landscapes.
