Overview

Dhampus Peak lies northeast of big Dhaulagiri region along with Kaligandaki river that flows at the buttom. Dhampus peak climbing is an easy mountain technically. It is also called 'Thapa peak climbing'. Dhampus Peak climbing is suitable for climbers looking to obtain an adventurous trekking. The Dhampus peak climbing route goes through the natural environment with terraced rice fields, colorful Rhododendron forest, artistic waterfalls, pristine Rivers and striking glimpse of the numerous beautiful snowcapped peaks. Dhampus peak a very spot to observe the scenery from which you can enjoy with various mountains such as Dhaulagiri (height 8167m), Tucuche Peak (height 6920m) and other attractive mountains. You can have experience of the biggest mountain ranges in the world with an uninterrupted height between seven thousand and eight-thousand-meter high. The Himalayas including Annapurna 1,2,3,4, Annapurna south, the Nilgiris and Tilicho Peak tower above the horizon in the south. Climbing starts from Tukuche (3500m), that makes you feel that you are going very higher.

Dhumpus peak climbing 9also known as Thapa Peak Climbing) starts from kathmandu through beauifus city pokhara. Further the journey goes through beautiful Annapurna valley Tikhedhunga Ghorepani Tatopani Kalopani Marpha  Yak Kharka & summit the Dhampus peak.

Overview itinerary:

Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu and transfer to respective hotels

Day 2: Kathmandu sightseeing and prepare for the trek.

Day 03: Kathmandu to Pokhara (915m)

Day 04: Drive to Nayapul or beyond and trek to Ulleri 1,960 m - 06 hrs. 

Day 05: Trek to Ghorepani 2,880 m - 05 hrs.  

Day 06: Morning hike to Poon Hill 3,210 m) continue trek to Tadapani 2,630 m- 05 hrs.

Day 07: Tatopani to Ghasa [2,110m/6,922ft]: 5-6 hrs.

Day 08: Ghasa to Marpha [2,680m/8,792ft]: 4-5hrs.

Day 09: Trek from Marpha to Yak Kharka (3680m).

Day 10: Trek from Yak kharka to Dhampus Base Camp (5100m).

Day 11: Rest day and acclimatization day:

Day 12: Dhumpus base camp to High Camp (5600m)

Day 13: Submit to Dhumpus base camp (6012m):

Day 14: Trek to Yak Kharka (3680m). walk approximately 5-6 hours.

Day 15: Trek to Marpha (2670m). walk approximately 5-6 hours.

Day 16: Trek to Jomsom (2710m). walk approximately 4-5 hours.

Day 17: Jomsom to Pokhara by flight.

Day 18: Drive from Pokhara to Kathmandu.

Day 19: Final departure.


Detail Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu and transfer to respective hotels

On reaching Kathmandu International Airport, one of our representative will welcome you and transfer to respective hotels. We will provide orientation and meet with other members of the group, briefing with welcome dinner at authentic Nepali dinner.

Day 2: Kathmandu sightseeing and prepare for the trek.

A free day in Kathmandu with half day guided tour of world heritage sites visit the Pashupatinath a Hindu Temple, Bouddhanath to visit the huge Buddhist Stupa. Afternoon free for own activities and preparation for the trek and climb.

Day 03: Kathmandu to Pokhara (915m):

Very early in the morning after your breakfast, Trek guide will pick you up form hotel and move to the pokhara by AC tourist bus or by flight.  We pass through trishuli river with the mountain view in between, if we go by tourist bus it takes approximately 5-6 hours' drive and if, by flight 35 minutes only. Stay Overnight at pokhara.

Day 04: Drive to Nayapul or beyond and trek to Ulleri 1,960 m - 06 hrs. 

With pleasant nigh-stop at Pokhara, morning leads with a short draw is to reach starting the point of the trek at Nayapul town or beyond to Bhirethati village, a nice place on the side of Modi River. The walk starts heading with slow uphill trail past farm villages overlooking cascading waterfalls entering forest within farm areas and then climb to reach Tirkhedhunga, a nice farm village close to its beautiful waterfalls. From Tirkhedhunga walks up the hill on stone paved steps all the way to reach a high ridge top at Ulleri village for overnight stops after a tough walk of few hours. Ulleri a large Gurung and Magar village facing views of rolling hills and snow-capped peaks of Annapurna South, Huin Chuli and top of Machhapuchare Himal.

Day 05: Trek to Ghorepani 2,880 m - 05 hrs.  

From Ulleri after a nice overnight morning walk leads on was ending but on a gentle path within oaks-pines and rhododendron forest, where walk slowly gains altitude to reach Ghorepani village. Ghorepani offers fabulous views of Mt. Dhaulagiri, Annapurna South, and Vara-Shikar also called Annapurna Fang, a village with blue painted houses serving as good lodges located at the base of Poon Hill, populated with Poon people of Magar ethnic tribe.

Day 06: Morning hike to Poon Hill 3,210 m) continue trek to Tadapani 2,630 m- 05 hrs.

Starting the early morning with an hour hike to reach on top Poon-Hill at 3,210 m and 10,531 ft high, offers stunning views of the sunrise over a range of mountains from Mt. Dhaulagiri, Mt. Manaslu to Annapurna and as far towards Ganesh Himal includes Mt. Machhapuchare “The Fish Tail”. After an enjoyable view of mountains with striking sunrise walk back to Ghorepani and then continue trek to tatopani. Stay overnight at Tatopani.

Day 07: Tatopani to Ghasa [2,110m/6,922ft]: 5-6 hrs.

The trail now follows the Kali Gandaki river flows under the deep gorge by 2200m in between two 8000m mountaintops are only 38km apart. Continuing along to Dana, Rupse Chahara meaning beautiful waterfall and Kopche Pani, the trail further ascends to the Thakali village Ghasa. Ghasa is a paradise for the bird watchers.

Day 08: Ghasa to Marpha [2,680m/8,792ft]: 4-5hrs.

A steep climb through the forest takes you to Lete Khola then reach to Lete. It further continues to the east side of the Kali Gandaki reach you Larjung Village. From Larjung, we cross trail via Tukuche at 2590 m and apple farm projects which produces apple and vegetable for the whole region until you get to Marpha Village.

Day 09: Trek from Marpha to Yak Kharka (3680m).

Today we plan quite short trek as we are already tired. We start our walk at early morning. Today's plan is 5-6 hours walk. We reach to the Yak kharka for day rest. Stay overnight at lodge.

Day 10: Trek from Yak kharka to Dhampus Base Camp (5100m).

From Yala Kharka our trek heads through harsh alpine vegetation and magnificent views of surrounding high peaks towards Dhampus Peak Base Camp. Today's trek is a gradual ascend journey all the way to Dhampus Base Camp. Our trek continues until we arrive at a good camping site considered best for setting up our base camp. As soon as we arrive at the base camp, our team will set up the camps and make necessary preparation for climbing further into higher altitudes.

Day 11: Rest day and acclimatization day:

Today is rest day and preparation day. It is very important for avoiding mental and physical altitude sickness. Most importantly we need to be fit both physically and mentally to achieve our target summit of Dhampus Peak. While we spend our day exploring around Dhampus Base Camp, our expert will make necessary checks on our climbing gears and make preparations for shifting camp to higher altitude at 5,600 meters above sea level.

Day 12: Dhumpus base camp to High Camp (5600m)

Since, we had very good rest and reparation, we continue to trek through and over glaciated mountain passes to finally arrive at the High Camp. After we reach to the high camp, our expert will quickly set up the camps and make final checks on our climbing gears before attempting a final climb of Dhampus Peak summit.

Day 13: Submit to Dhumpus base camp (6012m):

Today is celebration day, we start early with the aim to reach the summit before midday, because it is possible of strong winds afternoon can create obstacles in reaching the summit. Following the guidance and instructions of our experienced climbing experts we will tackle several technical sections and head towards the summit of Dhampus Peak. The submit is rewarded with views of Annapurna 1, Annapurna 2, Annapurna 3, Annapurna 4 , Annapurna South, Dhaulagiri, Nilgiri South and North, Tilicho peak, Tukuche Peak and other snow-topped peaks.  After spending short and quality time at the top, we descend following the same route and head back to base camp.

Day 14: Trek to Yak Kharka (3680m). walk approximately 5-6 hours.

Day 15: Trek to Marpha (2670m). walk approximately 5-6 hours.

Day 16: Trek to Jomsom (2710m). walk approximately 4-5 hours.

Day 17: Jomsom to Pokhara by flight.

After morning breakfast, we check in the airport to fly back to Pokhara, a 30-min dramatic flight to Pokhara between gorge of the two huge mountains, Annapurna and Dhaulagiri. On arrival at Pokhara airport, the guide will transfer to the lakeside hotel. We make use of the rest afternoon for discovering the beautiful Pokhara valley leisurely. While we walk along the bank of Phewa Lake, a second biggest lake of Nepal, we cannot stop admiring the state of Fish Tail Mountain reflecting in the lake. We can also take a boat around the Fewa Lake or just can take an hour’s walk to the World Peace Pagoda. Evening time, we spend exploring around the lakeside. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 18: Drive to Kathmandu.

Today, after breakfast, we make a 200 kilometers drive back to Kathmandu. Better to hold on the left pane of the vehicle to enjoy the scenery through the route. Upon arrival in Kathmandu, you will be transferred to your hotel. There is nothing to do but trade emails with travel companions and organize the photos. You can spend the evening leisurely, perhaps catch up on some last minute shopping and celebrate dinner together with our staffs. Overnight at Kathmandu.

Day 19: Final departure.

You are saying goodbye to the mountains as your journey in Nepal comes to an end today! We take you to the airport for your flight time. We hope you enjoyed the trek, and are sure you will be back trekking somewhere in the Himalaya again. Approximately 3 hours before your scheduled flight a representative from our company will take you to the airport. On your way home you’ll have plenty of time to plan your next adventure in the wonderful country of Nepal.
