Classic Everest Base Camp a marvelous and delightful walk away from mainstream trekking trails, seldom used by other adventurer and trekkers due to popular airstrip in Lukla, since then classic trail from Jiri almost forgotten, where Nepal High Point Treks is bringing old original route to Everest back and active with your support by joining us on this scenic and cultural walks.

Classic Everest Base Camp Trekking begins with long and exciting overland journey from the capital Kathmandu heading due east to reach nice town of Jiri (also known as Switzerland of Nepal) filled with incredible scenery of snow-capped peaks, verdant valley, rolling green forested hills dotted with farm villages, neat well tended terraces fields that make Jiri area a wonderful place.

After driving through Jiri and then starting our marvelous walks heading past nice farm villages and patch of lovely woodland heading downhill and uphill to cooler regions covered with a dense forest of tall rhododendron, magnolia, birch, hemlock, pines, oaks and fir trees.

In spring the hills are alive with wild-flowers in full bloom pretty scenery that leaves you breathless with great views, as walk continues visiting traditional Sherpa and Rai villages of Kenja-Sete-Junbesi and Nunthala then reaching higher areas at Khumbu valley in Namche Bazaar.

A colorful large village almost a town a major hub of Khumbu Sherpa where every Saturday a busy market or bazaar takes place which is interesting to witness, having a rest day at Namche for acclimatization and short hike then reaching the beautiful spot in Thyangboche and the monastery surrounded within green woodland and mountains.

After a pleasant time visiting its impressive monastery as walk proceeds the highest zone where tree lines drops for sheer wilderness of dry terrain and mountains getting closer towards our main highlight at Everest Base Camp, enjoying great thrill at the base of mighty Everest and climb of Kalapathar the highest point of the adventure offering glorious panorama of mountains with Everest at close distance.

Enjoying awesome times with memorable scenery head back to Namche and towards famous Sherpa town at Lukla for short and scenic flight to Kathmandu, after a great wonderful adventure and experience on Classic Everest Base Camp Trekking. 

Outline Itinerary:

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu, greeted by one of our airport representatives and transfer to hotel.

Day 02: Kathmandu Sightseeing (visit world heritage site)

Day 03: Drive to to Bhandar 2,195 m

Day 04: Trek from bhandar to Sete 2,575 m -06 hrs.  

Day 05:  Trek to Junbesi 2,675m via Lamjura-la 3,530m - 06 hrs. 

Day 06:  Trek to Nunthala (Manidingma) 2,190 m - 0 6 hrs.

Day 07:  Trek to Bupsa Danda 2,250 m 06 hrs. 

Day 08:  Trek to Surkhe 2,295 m - 06 hrs. 

Day 09: Trek to Phakding 2,560 m - 05 hrs.

Day 10: Trek to Namche Bazaar 3,440 m - 06 hrs.   

Day 11: At Namche rest day for acclimatization and short hike.

Detail Itinerary

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu and transfer to hotel.

On reaching at Kathmandu international airport received by our staff and guide with warm welcome then transfer to your hotel in centre of Kathmandu city, after getting refreshed in your rooms join for group briefing regarding your stay in Nepal, where Nepal High Point Treks guides will provide information on treks-local lodge-hotels-culture and other necessary information related to Classic Everest Base Camp trekking.

Day 02: Kathmandu sightseeing (World heritage site)

Sightseeing around Kathmandu, as the valley is steeped with many world heritage sites and important monuments and religious-historical sites. You will visit Pashupatinath (Hindu Temple), Baudanath stupa, Swyambhunath stupa (Mokey temple), Patan durbar square.

Day 03: Drive to Bhandara 1,900 m - 06 hrs journey.

An interesting overland journey heading east from Kathmandu on old Nepal-Tibet/ China Friendship highway for few hours, on reaching Bhote Kosi River, leaving main road as drive lead the son winding uphill road to Charikot, a nice town of Dolkha district with views of Gaurishankar and Melung-Tse and as far towards Langtang and Everest towards east. From here downhill to Tama Kosi River and then climbs to reach at Jiri a nice hill town, regarded as Switzerland of Nepal, due to its beautiful location of hills and valley cooler climate and views of snow-clad peaks.

Day 04: Trek to Sete 2,575 m -06 hrs.  

After overnight in Jiri, our first-day walk begins after a short morning drive of few hours to Bhandar village, also called Chyangma this village of mix tribe with Tamang, Newar, but predominantly Sherpa people. From here our real adventure starts walking downhill into farm areas past villages to reach at Kenja village a nice moderate size village, situated in a valley just beneath high hills of Lamjura and Pikey danda, offers views of Number peaks. From Kenja, a steep uphill climb all the way to overnight stop at Sete village from here onwards the temperature gets cooler.

Day 05:   Trek to Junbesi 2,675m via Lamjura-la 3,530m - 06 hrs. 

Starting morning walk towards Lamjura-la pass with steep climb into forest of rhododendron, pines and oaks trees through small farmlands and hamlets, after few hours of climb reaching on top of Lamjura pass marked by a big stupa and few lodge, from the top descend leads through forest all the way to Sherpa village at Toctoc. After a short stop continues to walk on the winding path to Junbesi, and then downhill to Junbesi, a lovely large Sherpa village with an interesting monastery and a high school funded by Hillary Trust.

Day 06: Trek to Nunthala (Manidingma) 2,190 m - 06 hrs.

After a pleasant stop at Junbesi, morning walk leads on winding path with glimpse of Mt. Everest and other snowcapped peaks, then walk down to a river with short climb to Ringmo village, stopping here for lunch after a refreshing stop, an hour of slow climb into forest to reach Trakshindo pass at 3,070m high, marked with mani and chhorten facing views of Number, Kusum Kanguru, Thamersarkhu and Kantega peaks. From here downhill to Nunthala past Tak Shindo village with its old monastery, continue to descend to reach farmland on the outskirt of the village, a short walk from the bottom of the hill brings you at the big village at Nantahala also called Manidingma, a village of Rai and Sherpa people. 

Day 07: Trek to Bupsa Danda 2,250 m 06 hrs. 

From here onward air gets cooler as route leads close to Khumbu area, on leaving Solu region, morning begins with a downhill into the forest to reach a bridge over Dudh Kosi River, after crossing on winding uphill to Jubing village. After Jubing an hour climb to Khari-Khola a large village of Sherpa and Magar tribes, after a short break climb with a steep slope for an hour to reach overnight stop at Bupsa, a small village perched on a ridge with superb views of rolling hills and valleys. 

Day 08:   Trek to Surkhe 2,295 m - 06 hrs. 

From Bupsa a walk takes to high Khumbu area where the temperature gets cooler as trek continues within mixed trees of alpine woodland. The walk leads over Kharte Dande pass at 3,880m high, to reach at Puiyan (Paya) village at 2,800 m high a nice place in the middle of the forest. From Puiyan after having lunch on winding trail with views of Lukla town and its airstrip, then descends to Surkhe village for an overnight stop in Khumbu area. 

Day 09: Trek to Phakding 2,560 m - 05 hrs.

Morning from Surkhe after an hour climb reaching at Choplung village where trail from Lukla and Jiri meets, from here to Phakding for an overnight stop, as walk leads past villages and farmlands with grand views of hills and valley and then finally reaching at Phakding village by the Dudh Kosi (river) for an overnight stop.

Day 10: Trek to Namche Bazaar 3,440 m - 06 hrs.                                        

A slow an easy morning walks leads to Sagarmatha National Park entrance gate, with time here for refreshing stop then cross a bridge to reach at Jorsalle the last village before Namche Bazaar (possible lunch stop), from here walk on river bed within forested area and then climb from the last high bridge to reach at famous and colorful Namche Bazaar. Where walk leads to climbing on winding uphill facing views of peaks, at Namche check into a nice and cozy lodge, with time to wander around its many well-stocked shops, Namche Bazaar the hub and main town or large village of Khumbu area where colorful and busy Saturday market held once a week.

Day 11: At Namche rest day for acclimatization and short hike.         

Rest day at Namche for acclimatization before heading towards higher terrains, with various options for short walks to catch best views of high peaks will be a good hike to Everest View Hotel, a four hours walks both ways, rewards you with an excellent panorama of mountains with Everest and magnificent Amadablam. At Namche visit the interesting museum with much information of Khumbu Sherpa, culture, flora-fauna as well of mountaineering expedition history with the rest of the afternoon at leisure. 

Day 12: Trek to Thyangboche monastery 3,867 m - 05 hrs.

After pleasant and enjoyable time at Namche morning walk leads to a short climb and then on good wide trail facing views of Everest and Amadablam with array of peaks, as our route leads into woodland then descend towards Imjatse River to reach at a small place in Phunke-Tenga, possible lunch stop in the middle of a wood. Afternoon climb into forested areas facing views of Kangtenga-Tharmasarku and other peaks as walk brings at a wide open plateau in Thyangboche with its beautiful colorful Buddhist monastery, with time to visit the interior of the monastery where you can witness monks and priest on religious activities with prayer. A scenic spot surrounded by high peaks with views of Everest and magnificent looking Amadablam amidst a forest of rhododendron-magnolia-oaks-juniper-birch and fir tree lines, truly a great place for overnight stop. In the month of October-November great colorful festival takes place called Mani-Rimdu with mask dancers by monks of the monastery.

Day 13: Trek to Dingboche 4,345 m - 05 hrs.

Morning catching the views of surrounding peaks, where walk leads downhill to Deoboche, within the green forested area and a further walk to reach Imjatse River and then cross over a steel bridge, from here end of tree lines as walk leads into windswept dry and arid country to reach Pangboche. The last permanent village on route Everest base camp where other settlement with many good lodges to cater needs of travelers and trekkers. Slowly walk leads past Pangboche heading higher with ups and down to a river, with the last climb of the day for an hour to reach a scenic Imjatse valley at Dingboche facing North Side of Amadablam with views of Island Peak towards east direction.

Day 14: Trek to Lobuche 4,930 m - 05 hrs.

After an enjoyable rest day in Dingboche, morning walk leads to short climb on a ridge top, marked with Buddhist prayer flags and monuments facing views of high close peaks and then on the good gradual path to walk. Our route leads on the winding path above Pheriche valley with views of Cholatse and Taboche peaks as walk comes to a small place at Thugla, where massive Khumbu glacier melts into a raging river. After crossing a short bridge and climb to Thugla for possible lunch stop and rest, before heading higher up to Lobuche, having break and lunch start with a slow climb to a ridge top line with a memorial of unfortunate mountaineers who risk their life climbing high mountains around Khumbu and Everest. From here a good walk with gradual up to reach Lobuche located on the corner of a wide valley beneath peaks of Lobuche East and West.

Day 15: Trek to Everest base camp 5,364 m and back to Gorakshep- 06 hrs.

Adventure today leads to our goal at Everest base camp, as morning walk follows a flat valley with a slow climb to reach further and then a steep climb to reach a ridge near above Khumbu glacier. As walk continues over rocky moraines and ice to reach scenic flat areas at Gorakshep located at the bottom of Kalapathar and Mt. Pumori on route Everest base camp, at Gorakshep with a short break. From Gorakshep heading further east to reach to reach highlight destination at Everest Base Camp with marvelous views of Khumbu Ice-Falls, glaciers looking above peaks of Nuptse, Everest, and Lhotse, in high mountaineering season of April to May this grand spot flooded with tents of expeditions. After an exciting time achieving our target walk back to Gorakshep for an overnight stop before heading downhill back to Lukla with a climb of Kalapathar.

Day 16: Hike to Kalapathar 5,545 m and trek to Pangboche 3,900 m - 06 hrs.

Early morning before breakfast climb on a top rocky hill above 5,545 m to reach the highest spot of the adventure, where you will be rewarded with a glorious panorama of giant surrounding peaks with close views of Everest and Mt. Pumori. After a great wonderful moment descends back to Gorakshep for breakfast and then carry on trekking down to Pheriche valley for an overnight stop in one of its nice lovely lodge. Pheriche located on a scenic valley close to Dingboche where HRA (Himalayan Rescue Association) stationed near this settlement.

Day 17:  Trek to Namche Bazaar - 06 hrs. 

From Pheriche, an easy walk on nearly flat ground and then further down to reach at Pangboche village with a great scenic walk on completing our memorable and exciting adventure at Everest base camp and Kalapathar, a slow enjoyable walk from here on without worry of high altitude sickness as route leads losing elevation every hour of walks. From Pangboche reaching with a climb to beautiful Thyangboche and its colorful monastery reaching back into green woodland, from here lovely walks of downs and ups and on the nice scenic trail to Namche Bazaar for last night in Khumbu before Lukla.

Day 18:  Trek to Lukla via Phakding - 06 hrs. 

Our last final day of the adventure with long day treks to reach Lukla starting with descending to reach a river valley and at Sagarmatha National Park entrance and exit to Monjo village, where walk continues past Phakding with last short climb to reach at last overnight stay in Lukla before flying back to Kathmandu.

Day 19: Fly back to Kathmandu and transfer to hotel.

Having early breakfast where interesting short scenic flight brings you back at Kathmandu, as you depart from Lukla early morning, as air journey leads you with an amazing panorama of mountains and then landing at Kathmandu airport with short drivel back to your respective hotels. 

Day 20: Depart Nepal for international flight home-ward bound.

Last day in the country of high Everest within massive Himalaya, with an amazing experience and wonderful memories and adventure on Classic Everest Base Camp trek, then depart from the hotel as per your flight time Nepal High Point staff transfers you to Kathmandu international airport for your homeward flight or to next respective countries.
